    Erin,

I can see that you have updated this page within the last 10 (or so) days as part of your above description reads “former adjunct journalism instructor at Scott Community College.

I am so glad that you are staying on as advisor for the “Great Scott Times” as I have HONESTLY had staff and students comment that this has been the best year for the paper since it came back into print in (I think it was) the fall of 2006.

I have been told we have published stories this year that advisors before you didn’t think were important (non-traditional student article and the articles concerning Applied Tech Programs). Before this year as far as the paper went these areas didn’t exist!!!!!

I am looking forward to writing for you for the 2010-2011 school year! It was because of you that my intrest for newswriting (especially profiles and feature stories) has rekindled after 25 years!

I have had the opportunity to read some of your works and I throughly respect and enjoy your writings. Even thouugh my love for newswriting has been rekindiled I can only look to your works as examples as I will never come ANYWHERE NEAR comming remotely close to them in my lifetime!!

While your specialty is pen and paper (or in today’s world, computer and paper), mine will continue to be in the kitchen as a baker and “pastry chef” with newswriting but anew revamped “rekindled and serious hobby” I have found again through you.

Again thanks for everything!!! It is all so very much appreciated!

    Respectively Friends,

    Mary-Vance Smith
